چکیده

In recent research works an emphasis on DiffServ’s inability to provide preferential treatment and fairness for aggregates of micro flows requiring premium and assured services. Responsive TCP traffic is unable to take advantage of the privileged treatment EF and AF classes provide, when QoS is configured. This is due to the performance degradation of TCP flows when integrated with nonresponsive UDP traffic. UDP flows are more likely to achieve their target rates than TCP flows under traffic congestion. In this paper we propose a design of a fair DiffServ-aware-MPLS TE architecture which protects responsive traffic from non-responsive traffic by assigning different drop precedence of the same EF class to TCP and UDP, and mapping TCP and UDP to different EF class-type queues. We also attempt to improve the fairness and guarantee the privileged treatment for the flows belonging to the assured services.

Wireless Hybrid QoS Architecture with an Enhancement of Fair Intelligent Congestion Control

More subtle and explicit QoS control mechanisms are required at the radio access level, even though the simple and scalable Differentiated Services (DiffServ) QoS control model is acceptable for the core of the network. At the radio access level, available resources are severely limited and the degree of traffic aggregation is not significant, thus rendering the DiffServ principles less effecti...

Providing scalable support for multiple QoS guarantees: architecture and mechanisms

Abstrucr-This paper presents architecture and mechanisms to support multiple QoS under the DiffServ paradigm. On the data plane, we present a node architecture based on the virtual time reference system (VTRS), which is a unifying scheduling framework for scalable support of the guaranteed service. The key building block of our node architecture is the core-stateless virtual clock (CSVC) schedu...

Self-Tuning End-to-end QoS Internet

A novel QoS architecture along with scalable protocols for rate allocation in multi-service Internet is introduced. The protocols compute distributively, adaptively and asynchronously the target rates for aggregate flows and shape their traffic accordingly so as to meet multiple QoS requirements for packet delay, packet loss rate and minimum bandwidth. The target rates are optimal in sense that...

A Service Architecture for ATM: From Applications to Scheduling

This paper derives a rationale for the service architecture of the ATM Forum’s Traffic Management 4.0 specification. This model distinguishes a small number of general ways to provide Quality of Service (QoS) which are appropriate for different classes of applications. We construct the set of ATM service categories by first analysing the QoS and traffic requirements for a reasonably comprehensi...

Fair Scheduling with QoS Support in Ad Hoc Networks

This paper studies fair scheduling with Quality of Service (QoS) support in ad hoc networks. The goal is to satisfy the minimum bandwidth requirements of guaranteed flows and to provide fair share of residual bandwidth among all flows. We propose a new cluster-based mechanism called two-tier slot allocation protocol (2TSAP), which improves system throughput and ensures per-cluster fairness whil...

A Novel Parameterized QoS based Uplink and Downlink Scheduler for Bandwidth/Data Management over IEEE 802.16d Network

Recent developments in Broadband Wireless Access (BWA), caused users to use multimedia, real–time and high bandwidth intensive applications that lead to a new era of research and development in wireless networks. IEEE 802.16 standard has come forward as BWA solution to fulfill the requirements of users. Even though IEEE 802.16 standard defines scheduling service flows and quality of service par...
